With instant booking, matching passengers book a seat at once and you are told right away. With approval, passengers request a seat and you accept or decline.

Share your empty seats
Going to another city anyway? Offer the empty seats in your car and share the cost of the trip. Only verified captains can publish rides.
Before you start
What you need
- You are 18 or above and have a valid driving licence in DigiLocker.
- The car’s RC is in DigiLocker and matches the car number.
- Valid insurance and PUC for the car.
- Four clear photos of the car.
- For a taxi (yellow plate): a valid permit, fitness certificate and a licence that allows driving a transport vehicle.
Photos or scans of the licence or RC are not accepted. Both must come from DigiLocker.
Verification
How you get verified

Add documents
In Profile, add your licence and RC from DigiLocker, the car brand, model, colour and number, and 4 car photos.

Wait for review
Our team checks that the licence is valid, the name matches and the RC matches the car. Your badge shows In review.
- 03
Get Verified
Once approved, the badge says Verified and you can publish. If you edit the car later, it goes back for review.
Publishing
Your ride, your choices
Seat price
The app shows a price range for the distance, from the 5 Seater fare to the SUV fare. You pick your price inside it. It is fixed for each passenger once they book.
Pick me up | Drop me off
You can offer pickup within 5 km of your start and drop within 5 km of your stop. Add-on fare applies. Pickup is for taxi rides only.
Ride requests
Verified taxi captains with alerts on see passenger requests in the Requests tab of Publish a ride, and can offer a seat.
Cash from passengers
Passengers pay you the seat fare in cash after drop. If they used wallet credit or an offer, ShareRides pays you that part through Settlement.
Platform fee
ShareRides charges a small platform fee for each passenger who travels. It is shown before you publish and added to Settlement. During launch, ShareRides does not charge it.
Settlement
Settlement shows one net amount: fees you owe minus what ShareRides owes you. Clear any dues before your next publish. Statements can be downloaded from the app.
Rules
Taxi and private car
Read the Yellow plate and White plate tabs in the Terms of use before you publish.
Taxi (yellow plate)
Carry passengers only with a valid permit and documents. Publish within the price range shown. You can get ride requests and offer Pick me up.
Private car (white plate)
Only for trips you are already making, to share costs. Not a taxi service. At most 2 trips in any 7 days. Private car pooling is allowed only where your state permits it.
