1. Who this policy covers
DailyJobs OPC Private Limited is responsible for personal data in ShareRides. ShareRides will operate as a product of DailyJobs OPC Private Limited. This policy covers the website and the iOS and Android apps. We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
2. Data we collect
Account: name, mobile number, email if you sign in with Google, gender, and a 4-digit boarding PIN. Trip: search, booking, traveller names and genders, pickup and drop labels, trip chat on a booking, a rating you choose to leave after a trip, and precise location while a trip is active and the app is in use. Captain: a photo of the driving licence. We do not ask you to type the licence number. Vehicle: brand, model, colour, plate number, whether the plate is white or yellow, registration certificate photo, vehicle photos, and review status. Safety: up to three emergency contacts you save. If you use SOS, the message can include the trip and location and can be sent to those contacts. Device: a notification token so we can send booking and trip alerts. Support: messages you send to info@sharerides.in or in.sharerides@gmail.com. We do not read your address book. We do not collect location in the background.
3. Why we use it
We use this data to create your account, match and book seats in the app, show a trip to the people on it, verify captains, send booking and trip alerts, operate SOS and live tracking, and handle safety reports and support. The driving licence photo is used to check that the captain holds a valid licence for that vehicle class. It is not shown to passengers. Vehicle photos, the registration certificate, the white or yellow plate, and the details the captain enters are used to check that the vehicle matches the record and is fit for the seats booked before a ride can be published. Where a trip is driven in Telangana, we also use it to meet duties under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and directions of the Transport Department, Government of Telangana. Gender is used only for the women-driver filter, the women co-passenger filter, and the co-passenger list after a seat is confirmed.
4. What other users can see
Your phone number and email stay on your profile. They are not placed on a public ride. The driving licence photo is visible to ShareRides staff for verification. It is not shown to passengers or on a public ride. Before a seat is confirmed, other people see only how many seats are taken. After confirm, people on that ride see co-passenger names and genders, the vehicle model, colour, and plate, and the chat on that booking. Phone numbers are shown to the other party only after a seat is confirmed. A booked passenger, and anyone they send the tracking link to, can see the live car location until the trip ends or sharing stops. In the app, an active published ride can be searched. The website does not take bookings and does not publish rides. A rating you leave can be shown with the captain’s profile.
5. Who else receives data
People on your confirmed trip see the details in section 4. Staff of DailyJobs OPC Private Limited can see account, vehicle, and trip records for verification, safety, and support. Google Firebase stores the account, files, and trip data, and delivers sign-in and notifications. We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with an insurer. We share it when a law, a court, or the Transport Department requires it.
6. Permissions on your phone
The app asks for a permission only when you use that feature. The system prompt states the purpose. Location, while the app is in use: set a pickup from where you are, and share live GPS on an active trip. We do not request background location. Camera and photos: you choose a profile photo, licence, registration certificate, or vehicle image. We upload only the file you select. Contacts: you pick up to three emergency contacts for SOS. We do not upload your address book. Notifications: booking and trip alerts. You can turn any of these off in the phone’s Settings. Browsing still works. The feature that needs that permission will not.
7. How long we keep it
We keep account data while the account is open. When you delete the account in Settings, or you email us to delete it, we delete the account and the personal data tied to it. We keep a record only where we must, for a safety report, a dispute, tax, or another legal duty, and only for that purpose. Licence and vehicle files stay while the captain account is active and while a verification or safety review needs them.
8. Your choices
You can correct your profile in the app. You can delete the account in Settings. You can ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion by emailing info@sharerides.in or in.sharerides@gmail.com. We will answer within 30 days. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India when that route is open to you under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Turning a permission off in the phone settings stops further collection of that type. It does not erase data already stored. Deleting the account does.
9. Age
ShareRides is for people who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly keep an account for a child. If a child has given us personal data, email info@sharerides.in and we will delete that account.
10. Security and contact
Access is limited to the account holder, people on that trip where this policy allows it, and authorised staff. Storage and sign-in are provided by Google Firebase. For a privacy request or a grievance, email info@sharerides.in or in.sharerides@gmail.com. This policy was last updated on 22 September 2026.
